wow what a horrendous crime…
A doctor being “egorge” , meaning has his throat cut off…in his own medical cabinet at Rose Hill…Dr I.A Bahemia, aged 72 ans. It was noticed only when a patient went inside the cabinet and saw the doctor dead….”dokter in tomb en long dan so biro!!! ” with blood stains everywhere…as mentioned in the newspaper “Le Mauricien”.
Police is investigating and they have already identified 1 suspect of 30 years old.
Now …tell me what do you think about security and crime in Mauritius?Share your point of views, as I think we are more exposed to criminality nowadays.
Do you think that the government should introduce capital punishment for such offences?
Well, it’s indeed a horrifying news. I still can’t believe that such terrible crimes are becoming the actuality in Mauritius(the so-called Paradise),a false image projected by the government.
Instead of concentrating on upgrading the rules and regulations about criminal offences, the authorities are either hiding behind their big black BMWs for fear that they will get a good thrash from the public, or they are busy designing a false portrait of our island to attract tourists and foreign investors.
Unfortunately dear friends, you will have to take your own precautions because there are lots of criminals waiting for you anywhere, anytime and avoid getting entangled with drug addicts and drunkards.
Take Care
Indeeed Mauritius can no longer be described as a safe place. These horrible crimes are becoming more and more common. I think government should think of more severe ways for punishing these criminals. And why not capital punishment…
Another nice topic from the new blogger
Well, introducing capital punishment is a big topic, which all a-level students know a lot about, and can surely write a few pages here!
Some of you may remember that a few yrs back, another person was attacked and acid thrown at him.
Such horrible crimes should be punished, but unfortunately, the past and the current government havent brought any changes.
As usual, you will see that Human Rights NGOs will come to interfere. Perhaps their perception about introducing these capital punishment will become more clear if any of their family member is killed, raped, robbed or badly injured!
However together with capital punishment, other related laws should be considered.
Keep it up my blogger!
@Bhavna
Government of Mauritius gives only false hope to mauritians…ki li ti ancien government or the new one, the trend is the same…so I can’t see if there will be any actions taken to minimize such dirty and dangerous acts from sick people…even if precautions are taken,nothing is predictable as the culprits are still around u….
@Yash

I just wrote an essay and then press PAUSE. Hit the Backspace button.
We will always have security issues in MU until and unless we all make something for this to change.
Indeed, that was one among the shocking news we are getting used to hear – man slaughtered while doing his work, Old ladies stabbed to death, Lover beating his partner to death, educated people performing black magic and drinking blood of young girl– What i’ll say next might seem incoherent Vandu, but I believe that all this is a result of our education system, remember the rat race that all of us had to participate in to get a good college, good grades or good ranking — I believe that making youngsters undergo such huge pressure (most probably from teachers and parents) since their tender age could well have resulted in such eratic behaviour from our fellow citizens (so called Young adults)– Point to be noted, please analyse the age of the recent criminals, they are not aged 50+ most of them are in their late 20’s and 30’s — Food for thought — WHO IS TO BE BLAMED!?!
Getting back to your topic, Agreed!! Mauritius, no longer a paradise island and not safe at all and all this do contribute to negative publicity for our country. Mauritius – Paradise – Tourism pillar of our economy — WAY TO GO!!! Can even say – very very long way to go!
bla bla bla…same old expected comments.
Rules, laws, etc – won’t matter unless the teacher, the social worker, the parent, the religious priest, you and lastly the gov work together. It’s utopian. Well, it does work if you’ve the will of Cory Booker – the mayor of Newark, US. Do read about him.
So, I look forward to reading more about crimes for nobody gets it. Plus, crimes provide material to blog, so. Viva crimes (pedophilia incl.), sexual promiscuity, teenage pregnancy, cheating exams, etc.. (Face it! We are facing a crisis of crises and it keeps increasing in size! And we all know that size matters!
)
Capital punishment can be a good method to deal with those deadly criminals. However as someone said above… its only the small guy who will be punished without much enquiry and the big mafia sharks will always get out.
we have so many case we can take as example: The Gorrah Issac case, Deelchand case, Bassin Blanc, Lallmatie case where a bullsh*t at UOM was accused of murder, etc etc… so many.

i am really sorry for the poor chap n his family.but let me tell u ,there are still people of this noble profession who collect enemies through the way they speak to non doctors n even to their juniors.beiing a doc does equally mean having courteous manners above all.
indeed crime in mauritius is a serious mattter but the one to blame is the government .try to think if a severe law would have been applied(eg death penalty for criminals,severe the sexual organ of the rapist)would there be an increase or ecrease in crime?
Hi,
The rate of crime is increasing every year.
Generally speaking, there is no security in the island. everyday, i read in the newspaper a case of robbery or crime or ‘attack of salesman’.
the minister of the internal affair and the security, who is no one else than the Prime Minister, says that the crime rate has decreased and that the security level is good.he still compares the crime rate and security level to the one prevailing before he took government in 2005.
on the other hand, the commissioner of police comes and says that his staffs and his organization is accomplishing a great job. he also says that the population is in security in this island.
all the comments from the prime minister and the commissioner of police are nearly totally false and just to force the population to be silent.
today, there are lots of robbery in regions where a single case has never been heard.
I live in one of the main road in the south and my family is well known. nowadays, there is lots of robbery in this regions. the robbers are breaking into houses at anytime, in broad daytime by using duplicate keys or at night by breaking ‘antivols’. the robbers do a lot of mess in the house and took all liquid money and jewelery that they can find in the house.
if they are not breaking in houses, they are stealing batteries from buses and lorries as there are lots of heavy vehicles in my area.
in the past 2 weeks, 3 families in my area have been victims of robbery. all the cases have been reported the police. the police came on the spots to take some fingerprints but after 5 minutes the officers said that no fingerprint can be found.
all these cases of robbery have been reported to the police station, which is the regional police quarters for grand port. not a single case of these robbery has been solved by the police till today.
nowadays, people are afraid to leave their residence as they do not know what surprise is waiting for them at their return. people are also afraid to live in their own house at night as any stranger can break into their house during the night.
THIS IS SHOWING WHERE THE SECURITY LEVEL HAS REACHED IN MAURITIUS AND HOW THE POLICE ORGANIZATION ARE FUNCTION TO PROTECT THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
I really waiting 4 z re-introduction of capital punishment…….It is really awful to hear such murders….. Hope cases like murder,rapes….will b decreased..
