Road Traffic Signs

lol, finally found something to blog
Yesterday, while going back home, I was listening to top fm in a colleague’s car and heard that many road accidents occur due to people who don’t understand road signs lol..
For example, some accidents occur when pedestrians are crossing roads and cars continue accelerating or don’t stop to give way even after having seen the Pedestrian Cross Here sign.

In some cases, it’s true that pedestrians just cross roads carelessly (Observed mainly in Port Louis).
Another example is, despite a no entry sign, people don’t pay attention and drive through not even thinking of the possible outcome.

So dear friends, my post today is based upon the road signs
. No no, I’m not going to teach you about road signs tvr
So my question is
Do you think that drivers should go through another driving test after some 5 or 10years?

Nice weekend to all of u

That cartoon image is too funny. And about the test every 5 or 10 years, I think it would be a good idea.
Nice and wide topic on which I can write pages, but I will try to be short!
One of the most dangerous category type of drivers are Taxi Drivers. I don’t know what you think abt them, but they take themselves for “Monsieur ki kone la route kouma so poche”.
Among some of their specifications:
They horn wherever and whenever they are.
They overtake you without paying attention to others
They dont hesitate to swear at you, as if they are the kings of the roads
They dont really respect others on the roads
Disclamer : Not all of them are like this…
As for other users, I would like to say that the elder ones consider them much superior when they see younger ones driving.
They make a fault, you are the one to be blamed!
For them, you are the only one who can make accidents, they have too much experience to commit errors!
That’s all from me for now, will add more later
Cheers
I think rather the points based driving license would be a good idea. This way those who are reckless are forced to pass the test again.
But I guess it really depends on the test. I did find that my driving lessons and some of the tests were questionable.
@ Kailash
Thanks for ur comment dear.
@Yashvin
I do remember when I was having my driving lessons, I got many probs with taxi drivers mainly. Other normal drivers did have patience to wait but those taxi drivers were horning and swearing at me :S. It was really embarassing for a learner and this didn’t motivate me at all at that time! I thought that maybe because I’m a learner these things were happening, but then saw that THEY are like zis always…swearing, always in a hurry, horning anytime and anywhere …zats true yash.
Me think that its not necessary to have driving test after 5 to 10 years
@Amrish
lol to p peur ban policier la amrish !
Thanks for ur comment, first time u’ve added one on my blog lol.
N ya, to film to ti donne mwa la so copy “EXTRA TOP” MERCHIEEEEE

Regarding z driving test, just follow the logic below:
- we have to undertake a driving test to assess our driving capacity;
- we pass the test it means that we r capable of driving and we drive better with practice – all of you agree with this;
- after 5 to 10 years, we have ample practice and it implies that we can drive;
- so where’s z need to have another test wen we already have more than sufficient driving practice after 5 years?
I think you all agree wiz z above xplanation..
@Amrish
Ya people can have practice and can drive well…but do they really care for others on the road?do they really still believe in all road signs they see, or do they remember all those signs they’ve learnt for the oral test? no, I don’t think so. I don’t think people drive as carefully as they once drove when they went on driving test.
To have the test means to make them aware of the road signs and precautions they need to take. They will be forced to obey the rules as in 2 – 3 years time they need to go on another driving test. Thus they need to FOLLOW RULES to get USED to it
I agree wiz u but there is no guarantee zat there will be good driving on our roads again.. They may resume to careless driving again..
The first test was aimed at assessing their knowledge of road signs and driving ability so as to be good and responsible drivers.. But after they get their license, they drive as they want..
So, if there is a second test, they will do it just for the sake of passing that test – after that they resume to careless driving again..
And just imagine that you have to take a second test after 5 to 10 years –
To pu bizin re ale fer la queue ene zournee devant Casernes zis pu met rendez-vous;
N to pu bizin re-payer pu sa test la!!!!!!!
@Amrish
Again I will tell you dear, it’s good to have that test as those people who drive without care normally are more proned to failure
Ya I agree with you that they will continue driving without care, that’s why it is good to have that test even if you have to queue up or pay for the test each time. It’s true that it will become frustrating but for security purposes I really don’t mind
Dhanesha, to bien tetu:-p
Pran gagner..
Mais me pu continuer oppose sa nuvo sysytem zot p proposer la
I think the driving license with points will be better instead of having to retake a test every 5 or 10 years, just imagine being asked to take ur HSC exams again
And in any case, think about the long queues that u will have at Casernes if all drivers were to retake a license test…now itself some ppl find it unbearable when they have to queue up since 7am to be the first ones to take their tests.
I agree wiz this.. A driving license with points will be the most viable option

MEGALOL …top comment :p
Interesting topic indeed
umm i would agree with amrish with the fact that after 5-10 years people have already picked all the bad habits of driving…yet when they will go for the test, they will do their best to pass the test.
As for taxi drivers, they never respect any1 on the road….well not every taxi drivers are like that though
But I would like to add 2 more here….bus drivers and motorcycle drivers!!!! Ayo papa…fer moi zourer lor volant kan mo pa content zourer…lol
Else, as you mentioned Dhan, than accident happens coz people dont understand the signs….I think the work that should be done is to teach people about the road signs…how??? Need to think about it.
i’ve got another perspective for accidents involving pedestrians..

Mauritian have absolutely no manners when they are sat in the driving seat…i got horned when i was on my DRIVING TEST….how silly the man kept horning and horning..(was he horny???
) and i panicked and almost lost it…wanted to stick my face out and tell him to shut the F.. up…. fortunately the lady undstood and i didnt fail cause of that…
well having said that…not everybody is as bad,,,
but i love mauritius…i just hate the drivers there yet if i go back there i may turn out to be the same kind of driver as the normal mauritian
