The one hospital i usually go to when im not looking to "steal" medicines is rose belle one. I agree with you totally guru, NEVER go to VH(well, unless you're actually dying from a physical injury!!!!Though that's kinda controversial too since most of the time, it's the risk of infection which forces us to hospitals when hurt, lol) since you might actually see a doctor writing prescriptions even before hearing about your whole condition.

Let's just face reality, Mauritius is not economically strong enough to sustain a welfare state(and here it's not just hospitals but also schools and all). So turn hospitals into a paying service(at least to a select part of the population) and PART of the problem will definitely be solved. =]

dude, if u are in a hurry NEVER ever go to VH unless u know ppl!
That hosp is the busiest one in Mru, whole of Plaine Wilhems + half of Black River, and is understaffed and relatively poorly equipped (tou zafer en panne brite brite sitant servi)

and btw, Fibroids are benign tumors, they do NOT have staging. They can turn malignant sure, but that's v rare (0.5% of all fibroids) and it is diagnosed before the removal of the uterus only v exceptionally

I am repeating my note on Facebook here on this subject.
I am following the progress of a patient in a hospital, part of the local national health service. I have come to the conclusion that the national health service here is a sham. I am horrified at what I find: slow admission procedure (2 hours for paperwork/file), dirty toilets, lazy staff, neglected patients, no proper catering with no respect for religious or ethnic requirements. Families come to the wards at least twice a day to wash and bring food for their loved ones.
You could believe you are still in the Victorian age, what shame treating your vulnerable nationals like this.

Thankfully, there are modern private clinics/hospitals but they can be expensive and not all the population can afford this.

My Dad has a cancer, he is at present under treatment at the victoria hospital. I must say the the personel at the hospital are very kind. though treatment are very slow, but i think that all the best professional are found in the private clinics, and its the fault of the gov, they should have encouraged these professional to stay and work in our hospitals, Just take a close look at the pay of the nurses and doctors. Now just imagine the number of patients that visit these hospital and the loads of works they performed, on top of that they dont have their data on computers.
i personally wonders how these people finds themselves among these files, i gonna be mad.
Anyway, i agree with all your points and i understand and feel sorry for your mum, and the attitude of that nurse is very disgusting, even if she could not do anything she could have talk to you more professionally.

I have been horrified at the state of public hospitals in this country. I would never go to those places like Candos for treatment. My perception of what I saw was something out of Queen Victoria's days or right out of a Charles Dickens book. Things have since improved but the horror stories continue. Thankfully there are private hospitals now with modern facilities but not all citizens will benefit from them. A public health system based on the archaic British system cannot work in todays society. You need to have a semi-private system like a mutuelle system with partial contribution from the users. However, that cannot happen until salaries (working conditions) improve in this country.
