I was so keen to see the 24/7 in QB as last time we have celebrated 24/7 in Port Louis and Rose Hill, I had not been able to go because of parking prob in the first case and secondly because I didn’t want to go
So qb was enlightened with bright decorations, loud music in each and every shops, orchard centre was full of poeple, on both sides of the roads near the municipality there were merchants shouting so that their voice can be heard over the loud music. Things like paintings, shoes, bags, toys, books, clothes, cds, hmm, lol, I remember only because I was interested in only these things
So Mum and myself, we left for qb on Saturday 6th March 2010 at around 19:30hr, and ya, we did get BUS!which is really strange as rarely we get bus in palma at that particular time. We got down near orchard centre and started walking…wow, so many people..more than I expected.
Children were running here and there, crying for toys or for cakes…so much noise, but still it was really good to be part of this special occasion.
We walked around for 1 hour and finally reached the municipality where “Trioco” was already busy entertaining loads of people. Heard that some people who were in front of the croud were offered FREE BRIANI!
We sat there for some 30 mins and then started walking again…the main road was blocked due to the merchants on both side of the road.
Fast foods like Kebab, well known boulette and mine bouille, briani, chips, roti were sold on the road.
While walking on the road near KFC, we heard loud music again, this time not from the radio but a band. At first I thought it was the police band lol…no infact it was a group huh don’t remember its name, but it was really NICE! TOO GOOD!SO LIVELY!Poeple started dancing and it was so much fun!

Then on the other side, there was the dragon dance! In the municipality itself, where TRICO was performing, there were different Mauritian singers singing the “SEGA”!
In the middle of the streets, another group was busy doing taicondo! In each and every corner of the main road in qb, there was something special going on.

Â
I don’t know how it was in Port Louis or in Rose Hill, but truely speaking, I found the 24/7 in qb a very interesting activity which has been very well organised.
Finally I returned home around 11 pm with 3 paintings, children books & toys for my brother’s son, a dress and a half eaten “pain kebab” lol
To see our streets so lively, so well decorated, and the most important thing, we were so secured with policemen in each corner, was a true pleasure.
Sorry for the pics as I have used my mob to take out those photos.
Have you been to the 24/7? What do you think about the 24/7?
